Generation of Christ


There are many opinions given, if we discuss about the youth. For example the age limit can still be called Youth. What is the actual age of the youth?
If we refer to the international community, then the age of 15 to 30 years old and not married is the standard age if want to be called as a youth. United Nations standards, the category of youth up to age 26 years. In Malaysia the criteria for a maximum 28-year-old boy, and in Southeast Asia average of 30 years. Throughout the ages, we see God taking a lot of young people to build His kingdom.

Youth should have a characteristic, responsible, critical (not easy to directly receive, pleased to think, reason), dynamic, innovative (the ability to develop something), creative (able to think outside the box), close to the technological advances. Youth also have the potential so great, either to build or to destroy. In addition they also need to have the maturity in various aspects: physical, mental and spiritual. But without us knowing it, the younger generation has now entered into a “baby sitting generations”.

We can learn from the example of Daniel and his friends in the Bible. They live with integrity (transparent outer and inner life). Daniel and his friends have the: good quality inside and out. Some of them: excellent academic ability, good working ability, integrity (morality, truth, dare to declare the truth, not looking for a name), spirituality is good (do not want to compromise and still maintain the sanctity of life, also has a good personal relationship with God and others)
For Daniel and his friends, there is no reason to live is damaged or incorrect only because of the surrounding environment is not true. There is also no reason for minorities so they were eliminated from the arena of life. All this can be their natural because their lives connected / linked to GOD. The quality of learning and their work viewed as a form of worship to God.
The life of a Christian youth do not escape from the challenges of life be it work, family, lifestyle (materialism = placing the material as the most important in life; consumerism = get things easily and quickly, it is difficult to distinguish where the needs and where the desire; pragmatism = orientation on results rather than on the process, the ethics of such a situation: a lie for the good; hedonism = pleasure is everything; culturally important instant = fast and easy)

Church of God in desperate need of high-quality human resources and the younger generation is a generation that seems to have only three choices in dealing with the status quo and the establishment around them first fled, the latter washed away and the third to be very reactive and aggressive.
Our young generation today driven and hunted to pursue success … success in terms of external and material. Reaching as high position, wealth as much as possible, enjoy the luxury and pleasure maximization.

Success is determined more by what you have, not by what you are; by how much you have, not by how good you are. Therefore, anyone who speaks about the character now? In our society today, a character such as honesty, integrity, moral courage, and so it closed many doors of opportunity and possibility. Conversely, successful wide open almost all doors. How can people not be tempted?
Build a society based solely on quantitative successes that are material and external is like building a tower of Babel; whose top reached the sky but with a porous foundation, the higher the tower, the level of destruction will result in more fatal. The foundation is a character … When we last spoke about the? Our generation is we let it grow without character! What challenges the young generation of today?

Now is the challenge for a generation of Christ’s creative and independent, the generation of character and strong morals, and the generations that have a high awareness of togetherness solidarity! Generation that tested both qualitative and quantitative, should be better than previous generations.

In every era, we must always be able to see the opportunities, crises and all the possible potential of that era. Lord, we do not deliver in a time that is past and God is not begotten us in the age to come. So “I” to be born in this day and age, should be associated with this era. Why have not I been born 50 years ago, or was born 100 years from now? Why did I become a young man who was born today? There must have been God’s purpose behind it all. (Stephen Tong).

How many youth are aware of or are convinced of the importance of this period? At age 17, often a person into a situation of doubt, a skeptic and do not know where he is going directs his life, so many difficulties that arise and revolt. Afterward, at the age of 18-19 years, was the last period in which young people will consider going back to God, so that when entering the world of the university, he will continue to pursue the truth. Or if he refuses, then he will fall into the stream of this world.

The Bible tells us that generations come and go, but the earth does not change (Ecclesiastes 1:4). A generation comes and a generation shift, but the earth remains unchanged. This sentence gives a trait of relativity, namely that can be passed and are still there. Who am I? Whether I was the host of this earth, or am I just a guest for this earth? Am I the master of this earth, or I will be ruled by the planet? Am I that would shift this time, or is this age that would shift me?

Why, when we study history, we learn the characters who are so great, so influential, whose mind does not fade and for thousands of years continue to provide instruction and inspiration to mankind. They are the ones who are not shifted by age, but they are shifting the times. Though their bodies may die, their bodies are buried, but they continue to influence the minds of all human.

Jesus Christ mentioned the people who lived in his time by saying, “you can discern the face of the sky, but the signs of the times” (Matt. 16:3 b). Through this sentence, Jesus wanted to invite people to be sensitive: why it exists and lives in those days, and then try to understand the signs of the times in which it resides, whatever the crisis and potential embodied in those days, and what their duties in in those days.
